Minor Flood Warning For The Lachlan River

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT COTTONS WEIR AND BOOLIGAL
MINOR FLOODING EXPECTED AT FORBES, JEMALONG AND HILLSTON
The Lachlan River at Nanami peaked at 7.41 metres around midday Wednesday, with minor flooding and is currently below the minor flood level (7.40 metres).
Minor flooding is expected along the The Lachlan River at Hillston during Thursday evening.
Minor flooding is expected along the The Lachlan River at Forbes during Saturday evening.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Lachlan River at Cottons Weir, where a minor flood peak is likely during Saturday.
The main flood peak is approaching Jemalong Weir, where minor flooding is expected Thursday evening into Friday morning. Minor flooding is occurring at Booligal where the river level is expected to remain elevated over the weekend.
Renewed river level rises are possible along the Lachlan River over the weekend. A flood watch is current for Lachlan River.

Lachlan River downstream of Wyangala Dam to Jemalong Weir:
Minor flooding is occurring at Cottons Weir and is expected at Forbes and Jemalong.
The Lachlan River at Nanami peaked at 7.41 metres around midday Wednesday, with minor flooding and is currently at 6.72 metres and falling, with below minor flooding.

The Lachlan River at Forbes Iron Bridge is expected to reach the minor flood level (8.80 m) during Saturday morning.

The Lachlan River at Cottons Weir is likely to peak near 4.80 metres, with minor flooding during Saturday evening.

The Lachlan River at Jemalong Weir Downstream is expected to peak around the minor flood level (7.20 m) Thursday evening into Friday morning.

Lower Lachlan River downstream of Euabalong to Booligal Weir:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Lower Lachlan River at Booligal Weir and expected at Hillston.
The Lachlan River at Hillston Weir is expected to reach the minor flood level (2.40 m) Thursday evening and remain near the minor flood level over the next few days.

The Lachlan River at Booligal Weir may reach around 2.90 metres over the weekend with minor flooding.

Minor Flood Warning For The Murray River

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT COROWA
Spills from the Hume Dam combined with floodwaters from the Kiewa River have caused minor flooding along the Murray River at Corowa where river levels are likely to peak Friday morning.
The Murray River at Albury is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.30 metres).
River levels downstream of Corowa are likely to remain below the minor flood levels.

Murray River downstream of Hume Dam to Tocumwal:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Murray River at Corowa.
The Murray River at Corowa may peak near 5.30 metres Friday morning, with minor flooding.

FLOODING POSSIBLE IN THE NEW SOUTH WALES INLAND RIVERS FROM FRIDAY MORNING

A cold front associated with a low pressure system is expected to bring showers and rain to western New South Wales from late Thursday, extending to eastern parts of the state during Friday. This rainfall may cause widespread minor to moderate and possibly major flooding along inland NSW rivers, many of which experienced flooding due the rainfall last week.
Catchments are wet following recent rainfall
The weather system is expected to cause renewed flooding for the following catchments listed from Friday. Flood Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.

Catchments likely to be affected include:
Upper Macintyre River
Gwydir River
Peel River
Namoi River
Castlereagh River
Macquarie River to Bathurst
Orange, Molong and Bell River
Macquarie River d/s Burrendong Dam
Bogan River
Lachlan River to Cotton's Weir
Belubula River
Mandagery Creek
Tumut River
Murrumbidgee River to Wagga Wagga

Minor To Moderate Flood Warning For The Murrumbidgee River

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT NARRANDERA AND HAY
MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT GUNDAGAI, WAGGA WAGGA AND NARRANDERA
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT DARLINGTON POINT AND CARRATHOOL
Minor flooding is occurring along the Murrumbidgee River at Gundagai where the river peaked on Saturday 6 August with major flooding. The main flood peak along the Murrumbidgee River has now passed Wagga Wagga, where the river level peaked on Tuesday 09 August with minor flooding.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Murrumbidgee River at Narrandera, where moderate flooding is possible from Friday.
Minor flooding is possible at Darlington Point this weekend.
Moderate flooding is possible at Hay and minor flooding is possible at Carrathool in late August as these floodwaters extend downstream.
Flood operations are being conducted by WaterNSW at Burrinjuck Dam and spillway releases have commenced. The releases may vary subject to inflow rates. The release plan follows consultation with the SES and local communities. WaterNSW are working closely with the Bureau, NSW SES and landholders with releases taken into account into the flood forecasts and warning.
A flood watch is current for possible renewed minor to moderate flooding from Friday for the Tumut and Murrumbidgee rivers.

Murrumbidgee River downstream of Burrinjuck to Wagga Wagga:
Minor flooding is occurring at Gundagai and Wagga Wagga.
The Murrumbidgee River at Gundagai peaked at 9.02 metres on Saturday and is currently at 6.66 metres and falling, with minor flooding.
The Murrumbidgee River at Gundagai is likely to remain above the minor flood level (6.10 metres) through to Saturday.

The Murrumbidgee River at Wagga Wagga peaked at 8.74 metres around 08:00 am Tuesday and is currently at 7.92 metres and falling with minor flooding.
The Murrumbidgee River at Wagga Wagga is likely to remain above the minor flood level (7.30 metres) through to Monday.

Murrumbidgee River downstream of Wagga Wagga to Narrandera:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Murrumbidgee River at Narrandera where moderate flooding is possible.
The Murrumbidgee River at Narrandera may exceed the moderate flood level (7.30 m) during Friday. The river level may reach around 7.60 metres during Saturday with moderate flooding.

Murrumbidgee River downstream of Narrandera to Darlington Point:
Minor flooding may occur along the Murrumbidgee River at Darlington Point.
The Murrumbidgee River at Darlington Point may exceed the minor flood level (5.50 metres) during Saturday. The river level may reach near 6.60 metres around 16-18 August, with minor flooding.

Murrumbidgee River downstream of Darlington Point to Balranald Weir:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Murrumbidgee River at Hay. Minor flooding is possible at Carrathool.
The Murrumbidgee River at Carrathool may reach near 7.40 metres around 20-22 August, with minor flooding.

The Murrumbidgee River at Hay Town may reach near 7.80 metres around 23-25 August, with moderate flooding.
