Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong areas.

Severe thunderstorm moving towards the Southern Highlands.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:05 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near the Morton National Park (west of Nowra). This thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast. It is forecast to affect Bundanoon by 7:35 pm and Fitzroy Falls by 8:05 pm.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Hunter, Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains, Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains and Lower Western districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 8:10 pm.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

Winds NE/SE 15 to 25 km/h becoming light in the early afternoon then becoming NE/SE 15 to 20 km/h in the late afternoon.
