Weather Situation
A monsoon trough persists about the southern Cape York Peninsula, with an embedded low south of Georgetown, in an environment rich in tropical moisture. Enhanced shower and thunderstorm activity will result in the risk of heavy rainfall through parts of northern Queensland.
HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL for the following areas:
Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, North West and Central West
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, North West and Central West districts. Locations which may be affected include Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Charters Towers, Hughenden, Pentland and Stamford.
VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce heavy, locally intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the North West district.

MAJOR FLOODING LIKELY AT TAEMAS AND AT SELLHEIM DURING FRIDAY EVENING
MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT INKERMAN BRIDGE OVERNIGHT SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY
Heavy rainfall observed since 9am Thursday has resulted in river level rises along the Burdekin, Cape, Belyando and Suttor Rivers.
River level rises are occurring along the Cape River, where major flooding is likely at Taemas from Friday evening. River level rises are also occurring along the Belyando and Suttor Rivers, where moderate flooding is likely at St Anns during Friday evening.
River level rises are occurring along the Burdekin River where moderate to major flooding is likely from Friday evening at Sellheim, Burdekin Dam, Dalbeg, Clare and Inkerman Bridge.
Further rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast over the next few days. A Severe Weather Warning is current for parts of North Tropical Coast and Tablelands and Herbert and Lower Burdekin Forecast Districts.
The flood situation is being closely monitored and forecasts and warnings will be updated as required.
Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Moderate flooding is likely along the Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Suttor River at St Anns is currently at 6.40 metres and rising, with minor flooding.
The Suttor River at St Anns is likely to reach the moderate flood level (6.50 m) Friday evening. Further rises are likely with the arrival of upstream flow.
Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Major flooding is likely along the Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Cape River at Taemas is currently at 7.36 metres and rising, with moderate flooding.
The river level is likely to reach the major flood level (8.00 m) Friday evening. Further rises are possible with the arrival of upstream flow.
Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Major flooding is likely along the Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Sellheim is currently at 14.70 metres and rising, with moderate flooding.
The Burdekin River at Sellheim is likely to reach the major flood level (15.00 m) Friday evening. The river level may reach around 15.50 metres overnight Friday into Saturday. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is currently at 4.68 metres and rising, with minor flooding.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is likely to reach the moderate flood level (5.50 m) overnight Friday into Saturday. Further rises are possible with the arrival of upstream flow.
Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam:
Major flooding may occur along the Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is currently at 15.38 metres and rising, above the moderate flood level (15.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is likely to reach around 17.00 metres overnight Friday into Saturday, with moderate flooding. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
The Burdekin River at Clare is currently at 12.70 metres and rising, above the minor flood level (9.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Clare is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (13.00 m) Friday evening. The river level is likely to reach around 14.00 metres overnight Friday into Saturday, with moderate flooding. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge is currently at 10.13 metres and steady, above the moderate flood level (10.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge is likely to reach around 11.00 metres Saturday morning with moderate flooding. The river level may reach the major flood level (12.00 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday.

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLY OCCURRING AT WINTON
Heavy rainfall over the last several days has caused river level rises across the upper Diamantina River catchment.
Moderate flooding is possibly occurring at Winton. Further downstream, minor flooding is occurring at Elderslie and Diamantina Lakes where river levels are rising.
River levels are likely to remain elevated over the next few days, with showers and thunderstorms forecast across the catchment into the weekend. This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as necessary.
Predictions for downstream locations will be provided as upstream peaks are observed.
Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes. The river level is currently at 3.01 metres and rising, which is 0.91 metres above the level of the causeway on the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road (2.10 metres).
Western River:
Moderate flooding is possibly occurring along the Western River.
No recent river level observations are available for Winton. Based on nearby gauges, the river is estimated to be above the moderate flood level (2.00 metres) and rising.
The Western River at Winton may remain above the moderate flood level (2.00 m) during the weekend. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.

MINOR FLOODING IS EASING AT ISISFORD
MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT RETREAT EARLY NEXT WEEK
Significant rainfall totals have been observed over upper part of the Thomson and Barcoo Rivers catchment during the last few days. River level rises have been observed along the upper stretches of the Barcoo River, with minor flooding have been observed at Blackall, which has now eased. The flood peak is now located just past Isisford, where minor flooding is easing. Flood waters will continue to move downstream over the next week.
Further showers and thunderstorms are possible for the next few days.
Barcoo River to Isisford:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Barcoo River to Isisford.
No current river level observations are available for the Barcoo River at Blackall, however, based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is expected to be below the minor flood level (2.00 m) and falling.
The Barcoo River at Blackall is likely to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m).
The Barcoo River at Isisford is currently at 4.24 metres and falling, above the minor flood level (4.00 m).
The Barcoo River at Isisford is expected to fall below the minor flood level (4.00 m) Friday afternoon.
Barcoo River downstream of Isisford:
Minor flooding is likely along the Barcoo River downstream of Isisford.
The Barcoo River at Retreat is currently at 0.50 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (2.14 m).
The Barcoo River at Retreat is likely to reach the minor flood level (2.14 m) early next week. Further rises are possible as flood waters arrive from upstream.

Widespread heavy rainfall has been observed across the Flinders River catchment which has led to river and creek level rises and areas of minor to moderate flooding. Further heavy rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Friday and into the weekend. This is likely to lead to further river level rises.
Moderate flooding is likely occurring along the Flinders River at Richmond Friday afternoon. Major flooding may occur during Saturday with forecast rainfall.

MINOR TO MAJOR FLOODING IS CURRENT ACROSS MULTIPLE CATCHMENTS IN THE NORTH TROPICAL COAST, CENTRAL COAST, GULF, AND LAKE EYRE BASIN.
FURTHER FLOODING IS POSSIBLE IN PARTS OF THE GULF COUNTRY AND THOMSON RIVER CATCHMENTS OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS
The monsoon trough extends across north Queensland and will linger for several days, potentially drifting northward later this weekend or early next week. A weak tropical low may form in the trough near the northeast tropical coast over the weekend before moving offshore and away from the east coast from Sunday or the early days of next week.
Catchments across the Flood Watch area are dry to moderately wet in some areas.
Isolated heavy rainfall with areas of monsoonal rain and isolated thunderstorms is possible over much of northern Queensland and parts of inland Queensland for the next several days.
River level rises and flooding is possible across the Flood Watch area. Elevated tides are also occurring which may enhance flooding in coastal parts of the Flood Watch area.
Isolation of communities and disruption to transport routes are possible over the next few days.

MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT YATTON
Moderate to heavy rainfall totals have been observed over the northeast part of the Fitzroy River Catchment since Monday, this has resulted in river and creek level rises along the Connors and Isaac Rivers. Moderate flooding is occurring on the Connors River at Pink Lagoon and Isaac River at Yatton.
Showers and possible heavy rainfall at times are forecast over the next few days, which may cause further river and creek level rises.
Connors and Isaac Rivers:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Connors and Isaac Rivers.
The Isaac River at Yatton is currently at 10.31 metres and rising, above the moderate flood level (9.50 m).
The Isaac River at Yatton is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (9.50 m) into the weekend. The river level may reach around 13.50 metres Saturday morning, with moderate flooding. Further rises are likely and peak predictions will be provided once upstream peaks are observed.
