Weather Situation
The monsoon trough continues to linger across the base of the Cape York Peninsula combining with an airmass rich in tropical moisture. Persistent thunderstorm and shower activity will result in localised areas of heavy rainfall today.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, North West, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Central West
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Charters Towers, Townsville, Hughenden, Richmond, Dajarra and Pentland.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Gulf Country and North Tropical Coast and Tablelands districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

54.5 mm of rainfall recorded at Monument in the 1 hour to 4:34 pm.

NEAR MODERATE FLOODING LIKELY TO CONTINUE AT SELLHEIM DURING FRIDAY MORNING
RENEWED MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT INKERMAN BRIDGE EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON
MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT TAEMAS AND ST ANNS FRIDAY EVENING
Significant rainfall totals have been recorded in the Burdekin catchment since last week, particularly on the eastern ranges around Paluma and surrounds which have resulted in river level rises and flooding.
A renewed flood peak around the moderate flood level is occurring at Sellheim. Renewed moderate flooding is possible at Dalbeg, Clare and Inkerman Bridge from Friday morning.
River level rises are occurring along the Cape River, where moderate flooding is possible at Taemas Friday evening. River level rises are also occurring along the Belyando and Suttor Rivers, where moderate flooding is possible at St Anns from Friday evening.
Further rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast over the next few days. The situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as necessary.
Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Moderate flooding may occur along the Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Suttor River at St Anns is currently at 2.85 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (4.00 m).
The Suttor River at St Anns is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.00 m) overnight Thursday into Friday. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (6.50 m) Friday evening with forecast rainfall.
Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Moderate flooding may occur along the Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Cape River at Taemas is currently at 4.61 metres and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Cape River at Taemas is likely to reach the minor flood level (5.00 m) Friday morning. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (7.00 m) Friday evening. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Moderate flooding is likely along the Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Sellheim is currently at 13.85 metres and steady around a peak, above the minor flood level (13.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Sellheim is likely to remain around the moderate flood level (14.00 m) Friday morning.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is currently at 3.98 metres and rising, with minor flooding.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is expected to remain above the minor flood level (3.00 m) for the remainder of Thursday and into Friday. Renewed rises are possible with forecast rainfall in the coming days.
Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam:
Moderate flooding may occur along the Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is currently at 12.73 metres and rising, above the minor flood level (10.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg may reach the moderate flood level (15.00 m) Friday morning.
The Burdekin River at Clare is currently at 11.15 metres and steady, above the minor flood level (9.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Clare may reach the moderate flood level (13.00 m) Friday morning.
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge is currently at 9.13 metres, above the minor flood level (7.00 m) and steady.
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge may reach the moderate flood level (10.00 m) early Friday afternoon.

Widespread heavy rainfall has been observed across the Flinders River catchment which has led to river and creek level rises.Further heavy rainfall is forecast for the rest of the week and into the weekend. This is likely to lead to further river level rises.
Minor flooding is likely along the Flinders River at Richmond Friday morning. Moderate flooding may occur Friday afternoon with forecast rainfall.
The flood situation is being closely monitored and forecasts and warnings will be updated as required.
Flinders River to Richmond:
Moderate flooding may occur along the Flinders River to Richmond.
There are no river level observations at Richmond, but the river level is expected to be below the minor flood level (5.00 m).
The Flinders River at Richmond is likely to reach the minor flood level (5.00 m) Friday morning. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (6.00 m) Friday afternoon with forecast rainfall. Further rises are possible.

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT GAIRLOCH, INGHAM PUMP STATION, ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE AND GLENEAGLE
Heavy rainfall has been observed across the Herbert River catchment over the last few days, particularly over the lower reaches of the catchment. Further rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast for the rest of the week and into the weekend.
Minor to major flooding continues along the Herbert River. Further small renewed river level rises are possible along the Herbert River with forecast rainfall, however flooding is expected to generally ease over the next few days.
The flood situation is being closely monitored and forecasts and warnings will be updated as required.
Herbert River to Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Herbert River to Nash's Crossing.
No recent observations are available for the Herbert River at Gleneagle, however, based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level at Gleneagle is expected to be above the minor flood level (4.50 m) and steady.
The Herbert River at Gleneagle is likely to remain above the minor flood level (4.50 m) overnight Thursday into Friday. Renewed rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing:
Minor to Major flooding is occurring along the Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is currently at 7.85 metres and falling, above the minor flood level (6.00 m).
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is likely to remain above the minor flood level (6.00 m) overnight Thursday into Friday with forecast rainfall. Renewed rises are possible.
The Herbert River at Ingham Pump Station (Alert gauge) is currently at 10.84 metres and falling, above the minor flood level (10.00 m).
The Herbert River at Ingham Pump Station may reach the moderate flood level (11.00 m) overnight Thursday into Friday with forecast rainfall. Further rises are possible.

Moderate rainfall totals have been observed over upper part of the Thomson and Barcoo Rivers catchment during the last few days. River level rises and minor flooding have been observed along the Barcoo River at Blackall.
Further showers and thunderstorm are forecast for the next few days.
Barcoo River to Isisford:
Minor flooding is expected to be occurring along the Barcoo River to Isisford.
No current river level observations are available for the Barcoo River at Blackall, however based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is expected to be falling with minor flooding.
