Severe thunderstorm with heavy rainfall has developed near the coast and is moving slowly inland.
Weather Situation
Severe thunderstorm has developed near the coast between Townsville and Ingham and is slowly moving inland towards the northwest.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Herbert and Lower Burdekin
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Ingham.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

Minor flooding has now eased along the Burdekin and Suttor Rivers. River levels are expected to continue easing slowly over the next few days.
No significant widespread rainfall is forecast over the next few days.
Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
No further flooding is expected along the Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Suttor River at St Anns is currently at 3.90 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (4.00 m).
The Suttor River at St Anns is expected to continue easing slowly over the next few days and remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m).
Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
No further flooding is expected in the Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is currently at 2.68 metres and falling slowly, below the minor flood level (3.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is expected to continue easing slowly over the next few days and remain below the minor flood level (3.00 m).

No further flooding is expected in the Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is currently at 9.43 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (10.00 m).

MINOR FLOODING EASING AT GLENEAGLE
Minor flooding continues to ease along the upper Herbert River at Gleneagle. However, forecast rainfall may cause renewed river level rises at Gleneagle.
The chance of showers and storms are forecast in the Herbert River catchment during Monday and into Tuesday, which may cause small renewed river level rises.
The situation is being monitored and forecasts and warnings will be updated as required.
Herbert River to Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding is continuing along the Herbert River to Nash's Crossing.
No recent observations are available at Gleneagle. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is expected to be above the minor flood level (4.50 m) and falling.
The Herbert River at Gleneagle may remain above the minor flood level (4.50 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday. Small renewed river rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
