Major Flood Warning For The Cape River And Moderate Flood Warning For The Upper Burdekin, Lower Burdekin And Suttor Rivers

INKERMAN BRIDGE LIKELY TO PEAK AROUND 11.5 METRES EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING, SIMILAR TO THE FEBRUARY 2009 FLOOD PEAK
MODERATE FLOODING EASING AT SELLHEIM (MACROSSAN BRIDGE)
PROLONGED FLOODING IN LOWER BURDEKIN EXPECTED TO REMAIN ABOVE MODERATE FLOOD LEVELS WELL INTO THURSDAY
Moderate flooding is easing at Sellheim (Macrossan Bridge) along the Upper Burdekin River, however renewed river level rises in parts of the upper catchment are likely to slow the rate of fall during Tuesday. Burdekin Falls Dam is nearing a moderate flood peak expected Tuesday afternoon.
Moderate flood peaks are expected along the lower Burdekin River from Tuesday evening, initially at Dalbeg, followed by Clare overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, and at Inkerman Bridge early Wednesday morning. The flood peak at Inkerman Bridge is likely to be very similar to that recorded during the February 2009 flood event, when the river level peaked at 11.55 metres. Moderate flooding is expected to continue downstream of the dam well into Thursday.
Major flooding is easing along the Cape River at Taemas, where the river level may fall below the major flood level overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. The Suttor River at St Anns is likely to fall below the moderate flood level Tuesday afternoon.
Further rainfall is forecast over parts of the catchment during the remainder of Tuesday and into Wednesday but significant rainfall totals are now less likely.
A Severe Weather Warning is current for the Herbert and Lower Burdekin and parts of North Tropical Coast and Tablelands, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and Central Coast and Whitsundays Forecast Districts.
The flood situation is being closely monitored and forecasts and warnings will be updated as required.
Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Suttor River at St Anns is currently at 6.65 metres and falling, above the moderate flood level (6.50 m).
The Suttor River at St Anns is likely to fall below the moderate flood level (6.50 m) Tuesday afternoon.
Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Major flooding is occurring along the Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Cape River at Taemas is currently at 8.86 metres and falling, above the major flood level (8.00 m).
The Cape River at Taemas is likely to fall below the major flood level (8.00 m) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Sellheim is currently at 14.75 metres and falling, with moderate flooding.
The Burdekin River at Sellheim is likely to remain above or around the moderate flood level (14.00 m) for much of Tuesday.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is currently at 6.63 metres and rising slowly, above the moderate flood level (5.50 m).
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is likely to peak around 6.70 metres Tuesday afternoon, with moderate flooding. The river level is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (5.50 m) for much of Wednesday.
Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is currently at 18.38 metres and rising, above the moderate flood level (15.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is likely to peak near 18.60 metres Tuesday evening, with moderate flooding. The river level is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (15.00 m) well into Thursday.
The Burdekin River at Clare is currently at 14.80 metres and rising, above the moderate flood level (13.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Clare is likely to peak near 15.40 metres overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, with moderate flooding. The river level is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (13.00 m) well into Thursday.
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge was estimated to be at approximately 11.13 metres around 10:00 am Tuesday and rising slowly, above the moderate flood level (10.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge is likely to peak near 11.50 metres early Wednesday morning, with moderate flooding. This is very similar to the flood peak recorded during the February 2009 flood event, when the river level peaked at 11.55 metres. The river level is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (10.00 m) well into Thursday.

Moderate flooding from recent rainfall is continuing along the Connors and Isaac Rivers. No significant rainfall has been observed in the Fitzroy River catchment for the last few days.
No significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days in the Connors and Isaac River catchments.
Connors and Isaac Rivers:
Moderate flooding is continuing along the Connors and Isaac Rivers. Moderate flooding has eased and minor flooding is continuing along the Connors River at Pink Lagoon.
The Isaac River at Yatton peaked at 13.52 metres around 01:00 am Tuesday and is currently at 13.47 metres and steady, above the moderate flood level (9.50 m).
The river level is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (9.50 m) over the next few days.

MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT CAMOOLA PARK FROM TUESDAY AND POSSIBLE AT LONGREACH FROM THURSDAY
Significant rainfall totals have been observed over upper parts of the Thomson and Barcoo Rivers catchment during the last week.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Barcoo River at Isisford and Retreat. As floodwater extends downstream, minor flooding is likely at Camoola Park from Tuesday and is possible at Longreach from Thursday along the Thomson River. Flood waters will continue to move downstream over the week.
Further showers and thunderstorms are possible for the next few days.
Thomson River:
Minor flooding is likely along the Thomson River.
As of 7:00 am Monday morning, the Thomson River at Camoola Park was 1.30 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (2.0 m).
The Thomson River at Camoola Park is likely to reach the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Tuesday as floodwaters arrive from upstream.
The Thomson River at Longreach is currently at 1.68 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (3.30 m).
The Thomson River at Longreach may reach the minor flood level (3.30 m) during Thursday.
Barcoo River to Isisford:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Barcoo River to Isisford.
The Barcoo River at Isisford is currently at 4.40 metres and steady, above the minor flood level (4.00 m).
The Barcoo River at Isisford is likely to remain above the minor flood level (4.00 m) during Monday into Tuesday.
Barcoo River downstream of Isisford:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Barcoo River downstream of Isisford.
The Barcoo River at Retreat is currently at 2.86 metres and steady, above the minor flood level (2.14 m).

MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT WALKERS BEND FROM FRIDAY
Moderate flooding continues at Richmond, where further rises to the major flood level are possible from overnight Monday into Tuesday. As this floodwater and the water from Cloncurry River extend downstream, minor flooding expected at Walkers Bend from overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, with moderate flooding likely from Wednesday. Major flooding is possible at Walkers Bend from Friday.
Further showers and thunderstorms are forecast across the Flinders River catchment during the next few days, which may cause further river and creek level rises and prolonged flooding.
This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as required.
Flinders River to Richmond:
Major flooding is possible along the Flinders River to Richmond.
As of 9:00 am Monday morning, the Flinders River at Richmond was at 7.55 metres and rising, above the moderate flood level (6.00 metres).
The Flinders River at Richmond may reach the major flood level (8.00 metres) overnight Monday into Tuesday.
Flinders River downstream of Richmond:
Major flooding is possible along the Flinders River downstream of Richmond.
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is currently at 2.00 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (5.00 metres).
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is expected to exceed the minor flood level (5.00 m) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. The river level is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (5.30 m) Wednesday afternoon and may reach the major flood level (8.00 m) during Friday as floodwaters arrive from upstream.

MODERATE FLOODING MAY OCCUR AT WINTON OVERNIGHT MONDAY INTO TUESDAY
Heavy rainfall over the last several days has caused river level rises across the upper Diamantina River catchment.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Western River at Winton, with minor to moderate flooding occurring along the Diamantina River.
Showers and storms are possible in the upper Diamantina River catchment for the next few days, which may cause renewed river level rises.
The situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as necessary.
Predictions for downstream locations will be provided as upstream peaks are observed.
Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Diamantina River at Elderslie. Further downstream, moderate flooding is continuing at Diamantina Lakes, with the river level currently at 4.08 metres and steady, which is 1.98 metres above the level of the causeway on the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road (2.10 metres).
Western River:
Moderate flooding may occur along the Western River.
The Western River at Winton is currently at 1.90 metres and rising slowly with minor flooding.
The Western River at Winton may reach the moderate flood level (2.00 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday. Further rises are possible as upstream floodwaters arrive.
