Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Heavy Rainfall, Damaging Winds And Large Hailstones
for parts of Southern Downs Council Area.

Severe thunderstorm near Stanthorpe, approaching Warwick.
HEAVY RAINFALL, DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas:
Southern Downs
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:35 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones was detected near the area between Stanthorpe and Warwick. This thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast. It is forecast to affect Dalveen by 9:05 pm and Warwick and the area south of Warwick by 9:35 pm.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 9:45 pm.
