Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Heavy Rainfall, Damaging Winds And Large Hailstones

for parts of Somerset, Southern Downs, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley and Western Downs Council Areas.

Severe thunderstorms have developed about the southeast this afternoon.

HEAVY RAINFALL, DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas:
Somerset, Southern Downs, Western Downs, Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 1:35 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones were detected near Crows Nest and Clifton. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Allora, the area west of Millmerran and the area north of Millmerran by 2:05 pm and Millmerran, the area west of Esk and the area northwest of Esk by 2:35 pm.

Cancellation for the following areas:
Sunshine Coast,Moreton Bay

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.
Other warnings may be current.

The next warning is due to be issued by 2:45 pm.

Moderate Flood Warning For The Connors-Isaac, Mackenzie And Fitzroy Rivers And Flood Warning For The Nogoa River Catchment

MODERATE FLOODING EXPECTED TO BE OCCURRING AT YAAMBA AND POSSIBLE AT ROCKHAMPTON FROM TUESDAY
MODERATE FLOODING TO CONTINUE AT YATTON
NEAR MODERATE FLOODING TO CONTINUE AT TARTRUS
Multiple flood peaks are currently moving through the Fitzroy River catchment. The main flood peak is along the Mackenzie River approaching Riverslea. Another peak from Theresa Creek has moved through the lower Nogoa River and into the upper Mackenzie River, and is currently between Bingegang Weir and Tartrus. This peak may prolong minor to moderate flooding along the Mackenzie River at Tartrus. Renewed river level rises are also occurring in upper parts of the Connors-Isaac catchment and parts of Theresa Creek following recent rainfall.
River level rises along the Fitzroy River are expected to continue over the next few days as flows arrive from the Mackenzie River. Moderate flooding is estimated to be occurring at Yaamba. Minor flooding is likely at Rockhampton from Monday morning and moderate flooding may develop from Tuesday, with a moderate flood peak possible overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. Significant uncertainties remain regarding peak water levels along the lower Fitzroy River and peak forecasts and timings will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days, which may cause renewed river level rises in parts of the catchment, but are not expected to significantly impact river levels along the Fitzroy River.

Nogoa River:
River levels are elevated along the Theresa Creek, with renewed minor flooding occurring at Gregory Highway.
Connors and Isaac Rivers:
Renewed river rises and moderate flooding are occurring at Pink Lagoon. Downstream, moderate flooding is easing at Yatton.
The Isaac River at Yatton is currently at 12.76 m and falling, with moderate flooding.
The Isaac River at Yatton is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (9.50 m) for the next few days. Small renewed river level rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.

Mackenzie River:
Major flooding is easing at Coolmaringa. Near moderate flooding is occurring at Tartrus. Minor flooding is easing at Bedford Weir and upstream of Bingegang Weir.
The Mackenzie River at Tartrus is currently at 12.90 m and steady, with near moderate flooding.
The Mackenzie River at Tartrus may remain around the moderate flood level (13.00 m) for the remainder of Sunday.

Fitzroy River:
Moderate flooding is expected to be occurring at Yaamba and may develop at Rockhampton. Near moderate flooding is occurring at Riverslea.
No observations are currently available for the Fitzroy River at Yaamba. Based on the upstream gauge at Wattlebank, the river level is expected to be above the moderate flood level and rising.
The Fitzroy River at Yaamba is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (12.00 m) for the next few days. The river may peak below 14.80 m during Tuesday, with moderate flooding. Peak forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.

As at 8:55 am Sunday, the Fitzroy River at Rockhampton was at 5.10 m and rising with the tide, below the minor flood level.
The Fitzroy River at Rockhampton is likely to exceed the minor flood level (7.00 m) Monday morning. The river may exceed the moderate flood level (7.50 m) during Tuesday. The river may peak below 8.00 m overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, with moderate flooding. Peak forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT JERICHO AND BARCALDINE DURING SATURDAY
MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT STONEHENGE FROM TUESDAY
Along the Thomson River the main flood peak has passed Longreach and is approaching Bogewong. This peak is likely to cause minor flooding downstream at Stonehenge from Saturday and moderate flooding is possible from Tuesday.
The main flood peak along Jordan Creek has passed Jericho with some local run-off causing renewed river level rises. The flood peak has moved downstream into the Alice River, where minor flooding is likely to continue at Barcaldine over the weekend.
In the lower Barcoo River catchment, river level rises have eased at Retreat, where the river level is below the minor flood level. Further rises are possible as upstream inflows arrive from several tributaries.
No significant rainfall is forecast across the catchment during the next few days. This situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as necessary.

Thomson River:
Moderate flooding is possible at Stonehenge along the Thomson River from Tuesday.
There are no recent observations available for the Thomson River at Camoola Park, however, the river level is expected to be above the minor flood level (2.00 m) and falling slowly.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park is likely to remain above the minor flood level (2.00 m) for the next few days. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.

The Thomson River at Longreach is currently at 3.27 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Thomson River at Longreach is likely to remain below the minor flood level (3.30 m) during Saturday. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.

No observations are currently available for the Thomson River at Stonehenge. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level at Stonehenge is likely to be below the minor flood level and rising.
The Thomson River at Stonehenge is likely to exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (3.00 m) from Tuesday.

Barcoo River to Isisford:
Minor flooding likely to continue along the Jordan Creek and Alice River.
No observations are currently available for the Jordan Creek at Jericho. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level at Jericho is estimated to be around the minor flood level and steady.
The Jordan Creek at Jericho is likely to remain around the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Saturday.

No observations are currently available for the Alice River at Barcaldine. However, it is estimated that the river level is above the minor flood level and rising.
