Major Flood Warning For The Flinders River

MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT WALKERS BEND EARLY NEXT WEEK
As the floodwaters from the Flinders and Cloncurry Rivers extend downstream, minor flooding is expected at Walkers Bend from Friday afternoon, with moderate flooding likely overnight Friday. Major flooding is possible at Walkers Bend early next week.
Along the Flinders River upstream of Walkers Bend and along the Cloncurry River, river levels are elevated but expected to remain below minor flood levels.
Further showers and storms are forecast across the Flinders River catchment during the next few days.
The flood situation is being closely monitored and warnings will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Western Cape York Peninsula.
Flinders River downstream of Richmond:
Major flooding is possible along the Flinders River downstream of Richmond.
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is currently at 4.88 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (5.00 m).
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is expected to exceed the minor flood level (5.00 m) Friday afternoon. The river level is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (5.30 m) overnight Friday into Saturday and may reach the major flood level (8.00 m) early next week as floodwaters arrive from upstream.

MAJOR FLOODING EASING AT HALIFAX
MINOR FLOODING EASING AT GLENEAGLE, ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE, INGHAM PUMP STATION AND GAIRLOCH
Major to minor flooding is is now easing across the Herbert River catchment.
Showers are forecast over the weekend, however these are not expected to cause further renewed flooding.
The situation is being closely monitored and forecasts and warnings will be updated as required.
Herbert River to Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding is easing along the Herbert River to Nash's Crossing.
At 3:10 pm Thursday, the Herbert River at Gleneagle was at 11.60 metres and falling, above the major flood level (9.00 m). Based on nearby automatic gauge, the river level is now expected to be below the moderate flood level (8.50 m) and falling.
The Herbert River at Gleneagle may fall below the minor flood level (4.50 m) Saturday afternoon.
Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing:
Minor to major flooding is easing along the Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is currently at 9.05 metres and falling, above the minor flood level.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is likely to fall below the minor flood level (6.00 m) Saturday afternoon.
The Herbert River at Ingham Pump Station is currently at 10.44 metres and falling, above the minor flood level.
The Herbert River at Ingham Pump Station is likely to fall below the minor flood level (10.00 m) Friday afternoon.
The Herbert River at Gairloch is currently at 9.74 metres and falling, above the minor flood level.
The Herbert River at Gairloch may fall below the minor flood level (9.50 m) Friday afternoon.
The Herbert River at Halifax is currently at 5.26 metres and falling slowly, above the major flood level.
The Herbert River at Halifax may fall below the major flood level (5.00 m) Friday evening, fall below the moderate flood level (4.50 m) overnight Friday into Saturday and may fall below the minor flood level (4.00 m) Saturday morning.

MINOR FLOODING EASING AT INKERMAN BRIDGE
Minor flooding is expected to continue easing downstream of the Burdekin Falls Dam during the remainder of Friday and into the weekend.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Suttor River at St Anns. Flooding has eased at Taemas along the Cape River.
Showers are forecast over parts of the catchment for the next few days, however these are not expected to result in further river level rises.
The flood situation is being closely monitored and forecasts and warnings will be updated as required.
Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Suttor River at St Anns is currently at 5.75 metres and falling, with minor flooding.
The Suttor River at St Anns is likely to remain above the minor flood level (4.00 m) into the weekend.
Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Flooding is no longer occurring along the Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Cape River at Taemas is currently at 4.96 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (5.00 m).
The Cape River at Taemas is expected to remain below the minor flood level.
Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is currently at 4.78 metres and falling, with minor flooding.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is likely to remain above the minor flood level (3.00 m) into the weekend.
Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is currently at 14.58 metres and falling, with minor flooding.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is likely to remain above the minor flood level (10.00 m) into the weekend.

FLOOD LEVELS REMAIN ABOVE THE SPRINGVALE DIAMANTINA LAKES RD CAUSEWAY
Heavy rainfall during last week has caused river level rises across the Diamantina River catchment.
Minor flooding has eased along the Western River at Winton.
Minor to moderate flooding is occurring along the Diamantina River as floodwaters arrive from upstream.
Showers are possible in the upper Diamantina River catchment for the next few days, however these are not expected to result in further significant river level rises.
Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
Minor flooding is continuing along the Diamantina River at Elderslie. Further downstream, moderate flooding is continuing at Diamantina Lakes, with the river level currently at 4.26 metres and steady, which is 2.16 metres above the level of the causeway on the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road (2.10 metres).
Western River at Winton:

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT RETREAT
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT STONEHENGE AND WINDORAH (MAIN CHANNEL)
Significant rainfall totals were observed over upper parts of the Thomson and Barcoo River catchments last week which has led to elevated river levels and flooding.
No significant rainfall is forecast over the next few days.
Thomson River:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Thomson River.
As of 6.00 am Thursday, the Thomson River at Camoola Park was 4.30 metres and rising, above the moderate flood level.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) into Friday afternoon.
The Thomson River at Longreach is currently at 1.96 metres and rising slowly, below the minor flood level.
The Thomson River at Longreach may exceed the minor flood level (3.30 m) during Friday. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (4.30 m) overnight Friday into Saturday.
There are no current observations available for the Thomson River at Stonehenge, however, it is expected that the river level is below the minor flood level.
The Thomson River at Stonehenge may exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Saturday.
Barcoo River downstream of Isisford:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Barcoo River downstream of Isisford.
The Barcoo River at Retreat peaked at 3.31 metres overnight Wednesday into Thursday and is currently at 3.26 metres and falling, above the minor flood level.
The Barcoo River at Retreat is expected to remain above the minor flood level (2.14 m) for the next couple of days.
Cooper Creek:
Minor flooding may occur along the Cooper Creek.
There are no current observations for the Cooper Creek at Windorah (Main Channel), however, based on upstream gauges it is likely that the river level is currently below the minor flood level.
The Cooper Ck at Windorah (Main Channel) may reach the minor flood level (3.00 m) during Friday.
