Minor Flood Warning For The Albert River

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BURKETOWN AIRSTRIP OVERNIGHT FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY
Heavy rainfall over the past several days has caused river level rises along the Nicholson and Gregory Rivers. A moderate peak has passed Gregory Downs, where river levels have fallen below the minor flood level early Wednesday morning.
Along the Albert River at Burketown Airstrip minor flooding is possible from overnight Friday and into Saturday.
Further showers and storms are forecast across the catchment over the next few days.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Western Cape York Peninsula.
Nicholson and Gregory Rivers:
Minor flooding may occur along the Albert River. River levels at Doomadgee and Escott Station are estimated to be below the minor flood level.
No recent observations are available for Burketown on the Albert River. However the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level (5.00 m).
The Albert River at Burketown Airstrip may reach the minor flood level (5.00 m) overnight Friday into Saturday.
