Severe Weather Warning
for Damaging Winds
for parts of Mount Lofty Ranges, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East and Flinders districts.
Issued at 4:57 pm Tuesday, 24 June 2025.
Damaging wind gusts continuing over southern areas before easing later Wednesday morning.
Weather Situation
A vigorous west to southwesterly flow persists in the wake of a cold front about southern parts of South Australia. A trough embedded within the west to southwesterly flow will maintain strong winds overnight before winds ease later on Wednesday morning.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Mount Lofty Ranges, Flinders, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Murraylands, Upper South East and Lower South East
Strong west to southwesterly winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible about Kangaroo Island, the Mount Lofty Ranges and the coastal fringe south of Goolwa.
Damaging winds are most likely through to early Tuesday evening and again during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Damaging winds are then forecast to ease throughout the warning area by late Wednesday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Victor Harbor, Meningie, Jamestown, Burra, Robe and Millicent.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Adelaide Metropolitan, Yorke Peninsula, Riverland and North East Pastoral districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
91 km/h wind gust was recorded at Cape Jaffa at 7:50 am.
106 km/h wind gust was recorded at Neptune Island at 10:42 am.
96 km/h wind gust was recorded at Mount Crawford at 1:17 pm.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Yorke Peninsula,Riverland,North East Pastoral,Adelaide Metropolitan
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm ACST Tuesday.
