Minor Flood Warning For The Ovens And King Rivers

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT WANGARATTA
River levels along the Ovens River at Rocky Point peaked early Sunday morning and a minor flood peak is approaching Wangaratta late Monday morning. Minor flooding is easing along the King River at Docker Rd Bridge.
In the 24 hours to 9:00 am Sunday, rainfall totals up to 8 mm have been recorded in the Ovens and King catchment. No significant rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Monday.

King River:
Minor flooding is easing along the King River.
The King River at Docker Rd Bridge is currently at 3.72 metres and falling slowly, with minor flooding.
The King River at Docker Rd Bridge is likely to fall below the minor flood level (3.70 m) Monday morning.

Ovens River downstream of Rocky Point:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Ovens River downstream of Rocky Point.
The Ovens River at Wangaratta is currently at 11.93 metres and rising, with minor flooding.
The Ovens River at Wangaratta is likely to peak near 12.00 metres late Monday morning.

Flood Safety Advice:
SES advises that all community members should:
Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater,
Never allow children to play in floodwater,
Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain,
Keep well clear of fallen power lines
Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.}
