Moderate Flood Warning For The Latrobe River

MODERATE FLOODING IS OCCURRING AT THOMS BRIDGE
MINOR FLOODING EXPECTED AT ROSEDALE WEDNESDAY MORNING
Since 09:00 am Tuesday, rainfall totals of up to 15 mm have been recorded in the Latrobe River catchment. No significant rainfall is forecast during Wednesday.
Moe River:
Minor flooding has now eased along the Moe River at Darnum. However, river levels remain elevated along the Moe River.
Morwell River:
River levels are elevated in the Morwell River catchment.
Latrobe River Yallourn to Traralgon Creek:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Latrobe River Yallourn to Traralgon Creek.
The Latrobe River at Thoms Bridge peaked at 5.35 metres around 05:00 pm Tuesday 16 August and is currently at 5.18 metres and falling, with moderate flooding.
The Latrobe River at Thoms Bridge is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (5.00 m) for the majority of Wednesday. The river level is likely to fall below the moderate flood level (5.00 m) Wednesday evening.
Latrobe River downstream of Traralgon:
Minor flooding is expected along the Latrobe River downstream of Traralgon.
The Latrobe River at Rosedale (Main Stream) is currently at 3.98 metres and rising slowly, below the minor flood level.
The Latrobe River at Rosedale (Main Stream) is expected to reach the minor flood level (4.00 m) late Wednesday morning. The river level is expected to remain above the minor flood level (4.00 m) for the next few days and may reach around 4.30 metres towards the end of the week.
Flood Safety Advice:
SES advises that all community members should:
Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater,
Never allow children to play in floodwater,
Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain,
Keep well clear of fallen power lines
Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.}
