Warnings for Thursday 11 August

Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
North Central, North East and Central forecast districts
Sheep graziers are warned that cold northerly winds, rain and showers are expected during Thursday. Areas likely to be affected include parts of the North Central, North East and Central forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

The next warning will be issued by 11:00 pm EST Wednesday.

Minor Flood Warning For The Kiewa River
Issued at 02:12 PM EST on Wednesday 10 August 2022
Flood Watch Number: 8

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT BANDIANA
Minor flooding is expected to continue along the Kiewa River at Bandiana during Wednesday and into Thursday.
In the 24 hours to 1:00 pm Wednesday, no significant rainfall was recorded in the Kiewa River catchment. No significant rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Wednesday.

Kiewa River to Mongans Bridge:
Flooding is no longer expected along the Kiewa River to Mongans Bridge.
Kiewa River downstream of Mongans Bridge:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Kiewa River downstream of Mongans Bridge.
The Kiewa River at Kiewa (Main Stream) is currently at 3.19 metres and falling, below minor flood level.
The Kiewa River at Kiewa (Main Stream) is expected to remain below the minor flood level (3.30 m) during Wednesday.

The Kiewa River at Bandiana is currently at 2.92 metres and steady, with minor flooding.
The Kiewa River at Bandiana is expected to remain above the minor flood level (2.80 m) during Wednesday.

Flood Safety Advice:
SES advises that all community members should:
Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater
Never allow children to play in floodwater
Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain
Keep well clear of fallen power lines
Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.}

Final Flood Warning For The Ovens And King Rivers

MINOR FLOODING HAS EASED AT WANGARATTA
Minor flooding has eased along the Ovens River at Wangaratta.
In the 24 hours to 9:00 am Wednesday, no significant rainfall has been recorded in the Ovens and King River catchments. No significant rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Wednesday.

King River:
No further flooding is expected in the King River.
The King River at Docker Rd Bridge is currently at 2.95 metres and falling.
The King River at Docker Rd Bridge will remain below the minor flood level (3.70 m) during Wednesday.

Ovens River downstream of Rocky Point:
No further flooding is expected in the Ovens River downstream of Rocky Point.
The Ovens River at Wangaratta is currently at 11.69 metres and falling.
The Ovens River at Wangaratta will remain below the minor flood level (11.90 m) during Wednesday.
