Minor Flood Warning For The Upper Swan River

MINOR FLOODING TO CONTINUE AT WALYUNGA FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS
Rainfall over the past few days across the Swan and Avon River catchments, has caused river level rises along the tributaries of the upper Swan River. Minor flooding is occurring at Walyunga with further rises expected over the next few days as upstream floodwaters arrive. No significant flooding is expected further downstream along the Swan River.
Further showers and thunderstorms are expected over the catchment area during Wednesday easing later in the day.

Swan River upstream of Walyunga:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Swan River to Walyunga.
The Swan River at Walyunga is currently at 3.52 metres and rising with minor flooding.
The Swan River at Walyunga is expected to remain above the minor flood level (3.50 m) for the next few days with further rises likely as floodwaters arrive from the Avon River upstream.

Swan River downstream of Walyunga:
No flooding is expected downstream of Walyunga.

Flood Safety Advice:
DFES advises people and communities to be aware that flooding is possible and be prepared to relocate equipment and livestock. Watch water levels. Travellers need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel plans may need to be reconsidered. Do not drive into water of unknown depth and velocity.}

Cancellation Of Severe Thunderstorm Warning

for Lower West district.

The threat of damaging wind gusts with thunderstorms has eased over the Lower West district.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in WA.
The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
A 91km/h gust was recorded at Garden Island at 6.35am.
A 94km/h gust was recorded at Rottnest Island airport at 6.13am.
A 96km/h gust was recorded at Swanbourne at 5.30am.
A 98km/h gust was recorded at Garden Island at 5.34am.
A 103km/h gust was recorded at Rottnest Island airport at 5.20am.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
* Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
* Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live.
* Assess your home, car and property for damage.
* If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs.
* If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.
