MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BURDEKIN FALLS DAM FROM FRIDAY MORNING
MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT TAEMAS, FURTHER RISES AND MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE FROM FRIDAY MORNING WITH FORECAST RAINFALL
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE FROM THE WEEKEND AT ALPHA AND DALBEG
Moderate to heavy rainfall since Tuesday has caused river and creek level rises across parts of the Burdekin River catchment, with very heavy rainfall observed Thursday morning. Minor flooding is occurring at Taemas with moderate flooding possible. Minor flooding possible at Burdekin Falls Dam from Friday morning and at Alpha and Dalbeg from the weekend.
Further showers and storms are forecast across the catchment for the next few days, which is likely to cause further river level rises.
The situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.
Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding may occur along the Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam from the weekend.
There are no recent observations along Alpha Creek at Alpha. The creek level is expected to be below the minor flood level (7.00 m) and steady.
The Alpha Creek at Alpha may reach the minor flood level (7.00 m) from Saturday with forecast rainfall.
Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Moderate flooding may occur along the Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Cape River at Taemas TM is currently at 5.56 metres and falling, above the minor flood level (5.00 m).
The Cape River at Taemas may reach the moderate flood level (7.00 m) Friday morning with forecast rainfall. Further rises are possible
Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding may occur along the Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is currently at 2.33 metres and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam may reach the minor flood level (3.00 m) Friday morning with forecast rainfall.
Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding may occur along the Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is currently at 7.63 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (10.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg may reach the minor flood level (10.00 m) from Friday evening with forecast rainfall. Further rises are possible
