Moderate Flood Warning For The Thomson River And Minor Flood Warning For The Cooper Creek

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT STONEHENGE AND JUNDAH OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT WINDORAH AROUND TUESDAY
Significant rainfall over upper parts of the Thomson and Barcoo River catchments during early February has caused elevated river levels and flooding. Floodwater is moving relatively slowly along the Thomson River, the main flood peak is approaching Stonehenge, where minor flooding is occurring.
No significant rainfall is forecast over the next few days.
Thomson River:
Minor to moderate flooding is occurring along the Thomson River between Camoola Park and Stonehenge. Moderate flooding may occur along the Thomson River downstream of Longreach.
There are no current observations available for the Thomson River at Camoola Park, however the river level is expected to be around the minor flood level and slowly falling.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park may fall below the minor flood level (2.00 m) late Sunday.
The Thomson River at Longreach is currently at 3.19 metres and falling slowly, below the minor flood level.
The Thomson River at Longreach is expected to remain below the minor flood level (3.30 m).
There are no current observations available for the Thomson River at Stonehenge, however the river level is estimated to be above the minor flood level (2.00 m) and rising slowly.
The Thomson River at Stonehenge may peak near the moderate flood level (3.00 m) Sunday afternoon.
There are no current observations available for the Thomson River at Jundah, however the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level and rising slowly.
The Thomson River at Jundah may exceed the minor flood level (2.50 m) Sunday evening. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (4.00 m) around Tuesday. Forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Cooper Creek:
Minor flooding may occur along the Cooper Creek next week.
There are no current observations for the Cooper Creek at Windorah (Main Channel), however, based on upstream gauges it is estimated that the river level is currently below the minor flood level and rising slowly.
The Cooper Ck at Windorah (Main Channel) is expected to continue rising slowly but remain below the minor flood level (3.00 m) over the next few days. The creek level may reach the minor flood level (3.00 m) around Tuesday. Further rises are possible with the arrival of upstream floodwater.
