Thunderstorms occurring along a trough over southeastern NSW.
DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Hunter, Metropolitan, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Australian Capital Territory and Snowy Mountains districts. Locations which may be affected include Canberra, Yass and Mount Ginini.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Hunter, Metropolitan and Central Tablelands districts. Locations which may be affected include Gosford, Sydney, Parramatta, Woy Woy, Wollombi and Kulnura.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks.
* After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:30 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Hornsby, Richmond and Maroota. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north to northeast. Minor Flood Warning For The Cooks River

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT TEMPE BRIDGE ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY EVENINGS ON THE HIGH TIDES
The river level along the Cooks River at Tempe Bridge peaked slightly below the minor flood level (1.30 m) Monday evening. High tides have the potential to cause minor flooding along the Cooks River at Tempe Bridge on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Cooks River:
Minor flooding may occur along the Cooks River.

The Cooks River at Tempe Bridge peaked at 1.23 metres around 09:00 pm Monday 28 April and is currently at 0.09 metres and falling with the tide, below the minor flood level (1.30 m).
The Cooks River at Tempe Bridge may reach the minor flood level (1.30 m) Tuesday and Wednesday evenings on the high tides.

Flood Safety Advice:
In life threatening emergencies, call 000 (triple zero) immediately. If you require rescue, assistance to evacuate or other emergency help, ring NSW SES on 132 500.
* Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
* Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
* Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
* Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.}
