Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Damaging Winds

for parts of Sydney, Greater Wollongong, Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury and Wollondilly/Wingecarribee areas.

Issued at 4:20 pm Monday, 3 November 2025.

DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Sydney, Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:20 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce damaging winds were detected near Horsley Park, Leppington, Kangaroo Valley and the Capertee district (north of Lithgow). These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Sutherland, Campbelltown and Liverpool by 4:50 pm and Bell, Bundeena and waters off the Royal National Park by 5:20 pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Illawarra and parts of the Hunter, Metropolitan, Central Tablelands and Southern Tablelands districts.

The next warning is due to be issued by 5:20 pm.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, Central Tablelands and Southern Tablelands
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Wollongong, Nowra, Katoomba, Penrith, Parramatta and Bowral.
105 km/h gust recorded at Western Sydney Airport at 4:10pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.

Warning to Sheep Graziers

for South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Central West Slopes & Plains, South West Slopes, Riverina, Lower Western, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts

Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Central West Slopes & Plains, South West Slopes, Riverina, Lower Western, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, rain and showers and westerly winds are expected during Monday and Tuesday. Areas likely to be affected include the Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Riverina and Snowy Mountains forecast districts and parts of the South Coast, Central Tablelands, Central West Slopes & Plains, Lower Western and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
