Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Heavy Rainfall

for parts of Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury and Wollondilly/Wingecarribee areas.

Severe thunderstorms moving into the Blue Mountains and Wollondilly areas.

HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury and Wollondilly/Wingecarribee
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 12:50 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near the Oberon district and the Burraga district (southwest of Oberon). These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to southeast. They are forecast to affect the area west of Lake Burragorang by 1:20 pm and Lake Burragorang, the Burragorang State Recreation Area and the Blue Mountains southwest of Katoomba by 1:50 pm.
33.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Orange Enviromon Base Station in the 1 hour to 12:35 pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

Slow moving heavy thunderstorms have developed over the ranges in central eastern New South Wales in an extremely humid airmass.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Hunter, Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains and South West Slopes
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Orange, Katoomba, Bowral, Bathurst, Glen Davis and Lithgow.
