Heavy rainfall for parts of Greater Sydney
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Gosford/Wyong and Sydney
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:45 am, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Hornsby and Parramatta. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north. They are forecast to affect Berowra and Annangrove by 9:15 am and Dural and Cattai by 9:45 am.
35mm of rainfall was recorded at North Parramatta in the 30 min to 8:27 am.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
