Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
Maximum temperatures in the high twenties to mid thirties and overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to low twenties.
Severe heatwave conditions building over northeast parts of the state are expected to gradually ease later this week or over the weekend.
Severe heatwave conditions over the Upper Western district have eased however Low Intensity heatwave conditions are expected through the week. Locations likely to be impacted include Ballina, Byron Bay, Dorrigo, Grafton, Lismore, Murwillumbah, Taree and Yamba.

A thunderstorm likely in the afternoon and evening, possibly severe with damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding.
