Minor Flood Warning For The Hawkesbury River

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT NORTH RICHMOND
A vigorous low pressure system has resulted in moderate to heavy rainfall over the Hawkesbury Nepean River catchment during Tuesday into Wednesday. This has resulted in river level rises along the Hawkesbury and Nepean Rivers.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Hawkesbury River at North Richmond. The Nepean River at Penrith has peaked below the minor flood level and river levels are falling.
No significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days.

Hawkesbury and Lower Nepean River:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Hawkesbury River.
The Nepean River at Penrith peaked at 3.31 m around 06:00 am Thursday 3 July, below the minor flood level. The Nepean River at Penrith is currently at 3.18 m and falling.
The Nepean River at Penrith is likely to remain below the minor flood level (3.90 m).

The Hawkesbury River at North Richmond WPS is currently at 3.92 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The Hawkesbury River at North Richmond WPS may reach around 4.50 m Thursday afternoon, with minor flooding.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BELMONT THURSDAY AFTERNOON WITH THE HIGH TIDE
Moderate to heavy rainfall since Tuesday has caused water level rises across the Lake Macquarie catchment. Minor flooding is possible at Belmont Thursday afternoon with the high tide.

Lake Macquarie:
Minor flooding is possible at Lake Macquarie at Belmont.

The Lake Macquarie at Belmont is currently at 0.46 m AHD and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Lake Macquarie at Belmont may remain around the minor flood level (0.70 m AHD) Thursday afternoon with the high tide.

Damaging surf conditions for central and southern NSW now easing

Weather Situation
A series of low pressure systems remain in the Tasman Sea. A secondary low that was moving northwards just offshore from the NSW coast has begun to weaken. Strong to gale force south to southwesterly winds around these lows are still generating large and powerful south to southeasterly waves today, but these are no longer expected to be damaging.

Damaging surf conditions are no longer occurring in NSW.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Don't walk, ride or drive through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.

Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming in the following areas.

NSW Police Force, Marine Area Command advise that:
People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas.
Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek a safe location that is sheltered from the surf.
Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage.
Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket.
Boaters should remember to log on with their local Marine Rescue radio base, via VHF Radio or the Marine Rescue APP, and consider their safety management plan.
