Heavy rainfall is ongoing about parts of western Sydney and the Blue Mountains
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Sydney and Wollondilly/Wingecarribee
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:35 am, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Liverpool and Warragamba. This thunderstorm is moving towards the west. It is forecast to affect Mulgoa and Silverdale by 6:05 am and Oran Park, Minto and the Blue Mountains south of Hazelbrook by 6:35 am.
68.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Liverpool (Georges River) in the 5 hours to 5:15 am.
44.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Peakhurst Golf Club in 1 hour to 04:30 am.
39.5 mm of rainfall was recorded at Kelso Creek in 1 hour to 04:45 am.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Metropolitan, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Northern Tablelands and Illawarra districts.
