for Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Greater Wollongong and Wollondilly/Wingecarribee areas.

Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms ongoing about Wollongong and the Southern Highlands.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:55 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Pt Kembla, Unanderra, the Stroud district and the Morton National Park (west of Nowra). These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast to southeast. They are forecast to affect Wollongong by 4:25 pm and Nowra by 4:55 pm.
53.5 mm of rainfall recorded at East Kangaloon in the 1 hour to 3:30 pm
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Illawarra, Southern Tablelands, Australian Capital Territory and parts of the Metropolitan, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Hunter districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 4:55 pm.
