Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Damaging Winds And Large Hailstones
for parts of Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong areas.
Issued at 2:00 pm Friday, 6 February 2026.
Severe thunderstorms developing over the central slopes and ranges.
DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas:
Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 1:55 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones was detected near Moss Vale and Robertson. This thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast. It is forecast to affect Lake Avon, the area just east of Bowral and Wingecarribee Reservoir by 2:10 pm and Dapto and Unanderra by 2:25 pm.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Park your car under secure cover and away from trees, powerlines and drains.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains and South West Slopes districts.
Other warnings may be current.
The next warning is due to be issued by 2:30 pm.
