Minor Flood Warning For The Barwon And Darling Rivers

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT TILPA AND MINOR FLOOD PEAK APPROACHING WILCANNIA
A moderate flood peak was observed on Monday 12th May at Tilpa. Minor flooding is now occurring at Tilpa. The flood peak is now downstream of Tilpa and approaching Wilcannia where a minor flood peak is expected late in the weekend or early next week 18 - 20 May.
River levels at Louth have fallen below the minor flood level.
Based on current forecast river flows and WaterNSW operational strategy, flooding is not expected at Menindee Town gauge. The Bureau will continue working closely with WaterNSW and this warning will be updated if the situation changes.

Darling River downstream of Bourke to Tilpa:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Darling River downstream of Bourke to Tilpa.
The Darling River at Louth fell below the minor flood level (8.60 m) around 10pm on Tuesday 13 May and is currently at 8.11 metres and falling.
No further flooding is expected at Louth.

The Darling River at Tilpa peaked at 10.68 metres with moderate flooding around 09:00 am Monday 12 May, and is currently at 10.48 metres and falling, with minor flooding.
The Darling River at Tilpa is likely to remain above the minor flood level (9.00 m) into the weekend.

Darling River downstream of Tilpa to Wilcannia:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Darling River downstream of Tilpa to Wilcannia.
The Darling River at Wilcannia is currently at 9.17 metres and rising slowly, above the minor flood level (9.00 m).
The Darling River at Wilcannia is likely to reach around 9.40 metres between 18th and 20th May, with minor flooding.

Darling River downstream of Wilcannia to Burtundy:
Flooding not expected at Menindee Town.
The Darling River at Menindee Town is currently at 3.76 metres and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Darling River at Menindee Town is expected to remain below the minor flood level (8.50 m).

* Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
* Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
* Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.}
