Heavy rainfall ongoing about parts of Sydney
Weather Situation
A fresh southeasterly flow to the south of a trough about the NSW coast is generating heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms, with some of these bringing heavy rainfall. Conditions should ease by late morning.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Metropolitan and Central Tablelands
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Sydney, Penrith, Parramatta, Springwood and Bilpin.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Illawarra, North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
68.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Liverpool (Georges River) in the 5 hours to 05:15 am.
53.2 mm of rainfall was recorded at Shanes Park (South Creek Road) in 1 hour to 06:55 am.
44.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Peakhurst Golf Club in 1 hour to 04:30 am.
39.5 mm of rainfall was recorded at Kelso Creek in 1 hour to 04:45 am.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Illawarra,Northern Tablelands,North West Slopes and Plains
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
