Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Sydney and Wollondilly/Wingecarribee areas.
Issued at 4:20 pm Sunday, 1 February 2026.
Severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall have developed this afternoon.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Sydney and Wollondilly/Wingecarribee
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:15 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Camden, Oran Park and the Gresford district. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Campbelltown, Springwood and Blaxland by 4:45 pm and Sutherland, Liverpool and Penrith by 5:15 pm.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Wollongong
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Mid North Coast, Metropolitan, Illawarra and Central Tablelands districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 5:20 pm.
