for parts of Greater Newcastle and Gosford/Wyong areas.

Heavy rainfall continues about the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle area.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Greater Newcastle and Gosford/Wyong
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 1:10 am, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Swansea and Catherine Hill Bay. They are forecast to affect Belmont, Karuah and Lake Macquarie by 1:40 am and Warners Bay, Toronto and Wangi Wangi by 2:10 am.
Intense falls have eased about the Lake Macquarie area but may redevelop in the next few hours.
114 mm OF RAINFALL WAS RECORDED AT BLACKSMITHS IN THE 2.5 HOURS TO 01:00 AM SUNDAY.
108 mm OF RAINFALL WAS RECORDED AT SWANSEA IN THE 2.5 HOURS TO 12:50 AM SUNDAY.
114.2 mm of rainfall was recorded at Norah Head in the 3 hours to midnight.
97.8 mm of rainfall was recorded at Wangi Bowling Club in the 2.5 hours to 01:00 am Sunday.
84.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Kangy Angy in the 3 hours to 11:30 pm Saturday.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
