Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning 
for Large Hailstones And Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Maitland/Cessnock, Gosford/Wyong, Sydney, Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong areas.

Severe thunderstorms with small to large hailstones and heavy rainfall likely early this evening.
LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Maitland/Cessnock, Gosford/Wyong, Sydney, Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:45 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Richmond, the Yengo National Park northwest of St Albans, the Burragorang State Recreation Area, Hill Top and the Putty/Howes Valley district. Significant accumulations of small hailstones are also likely. They are forecast to affect Windsor, Warragamba and Londonderry by 6:00 pm and Riverstone, Cobbity and Mulgoa by 6:15 pm.
 2-3cm hailstones were observed at Glenquarry at 5:15pm.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
 * Move your car under cover.
 * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
 * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
 * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
 * Unplug computers and appliances.
 * Avoid using the phone during the storm.
 * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
 * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Mid North Coast, Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Riverina, South Coast, Southern Tablelands and Lower Western districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 6:30 pm.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
