Major Flood Warning For The Namoi River

MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT WEE WAA TUESDAY
MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BUGILBONE FRIDAY
The flood peak along the Namoi River from recent rainfall is approaching Narrabri as it nears a peak below the minor flood level Monday evening. The flood peak is expected to reach Wee Waa around midday Tuesday, with major flooding possible. Further downstream Bugilbone may reach the moderate flood level Friday.
The earlier flood peak has passed downstream of Goangra and is now downstream of Walgett on the Barwon River. Minor flooding is occurring at Goangra, where the river level is falling slowly but is likely to remain above the minor flood level through the early part of the week ahead of renewed river level rises later in the week.
Namoi River:
Minor flooding is occurring at Wee Waa and Goangra. Moderate flooding is possible at Bugilbone and major flooding is possible at Wee Waa.
The Narrabri Creek at Narrabri is currently at 4.58 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Narrabri Creek at Narrabri is expected to peak below the minor flood level (4.90 m) Monday evening.
The Namoi River at Wee Waa (Glencoe) is currently at 6.12 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The Namoi River at Wee Waa (Glencoe) is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (6.40 m) around midnight Monday. The river may peak near the major flood level (6.70 m) around midday Tuesday.
The Namoi River at Bugilbone is currently at 3.75 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Namoi River at Bugilbone is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.90 m) during Thursday. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (5.50 m) during Friday.
The Namoi River at Goangra is currently at 6.08 m and falling, with minor flooding.
The Namoi River at Goangra is likely to remain above the minor flood level (5.50 m) during the early part of the week, with renewed river level rises later in the week as upstream floodwater arrives.
