for Heavy Rainfall

for parts of Lower Western and Upper Western Forecast Districts.

Heavy rainfall developing about the far southwest this afternoon.

Weather Situation
Tropical humidity on the southeastern flank of a low in central Australia is expected to increase today leading to the development of a broad region of rain with embedded thunderstorms. Rain rates may ease for a period during the day on Sunday, before increasing overnight into Monday with the approach of a cold front.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Lower Western and Upper Western
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for the far southwestern parts of the Lower Western and Upper Western forecast districts from this afternoon and overnight tonight, however is more likely from Sunday evening. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 40 to 60 mm are possible.
Locations which may be affected include Wentworth.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm AEDT Saturday.

MINOR FLOODING CONTINUING AT WILLARA CROSSING
MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT WANAARING
Along the Paroo River, the main flood peak is around Willara Crossing, where minor flooding is occurring. Further downstream, minor flooding may be occurring at Wanaaring.
Renewed rises are likely at Willara Crossing and Wanaaring over the coming weeks as flows from renewed upstream rises arrive.
Further rainfall remains possible across the catchment over the next few days, which may lead to further river level rises, combined with the arrival of upstream flows.
A minor flood warning is current for the Paroo River in Queensland.

Paroo River (NSW):
Minor flooding is occurring at Willara Crossing, and may be occurring at Wanaaring.

The Paroo River at Willara Crossing is currently peaking around 1.41 m, with minor flooding.
The Paroo River at Willara Crossing is likely to remain above the minor flood level during Sunday and Monday. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.

No recent observations are available for the Paroo River at Wanaaring, however the river level may be around the minor flood level.
The Paroo River at Wanaaring may remain around the minor flood level (2.40 m) during Sunday and into Monday. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
