for Heavy Rainfall
for Daly and parts of Arnhem districts.

Heavy rainfall about the western Top End, becoming more likely tonight.
Weather Situation
A tropical low is positioned about the southwest Arnhem district, embedded within a trough extending into the Carpentaria district. The low is expected to remain slow-moving over the next 24 hours, with broad areas of heavy rainfall on its western flank.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Daly and Arnhem
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for parts of the Daly and far western Arnhem districts. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 90 to 140 mm are likely.
There is high degree of uncertainty regarding the progression of heavy rainfall over the Top End into Saturday. However the most likely outcome is a slow westwards progression of areas of heavy rainfall tonight, and a gradual easing through Saturday.
Locations which may be affected include Wadeye, Nauiyu, Batchelor, Adelaide River, Pine Creek and Palumpa.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Carpentaria district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.
155.5 mm of rainfall was recorded at Theyona Station in the 6 hours to 3:46 pm.
111 mm of rainfall was recorded at Birdie Creek in the 6 hours to 7:16 am.
104 mm of rainfall was recorded at Edith Falls Ridge in the 6 hours to 7:21 am.

The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should:
* secure loose outside objects and seek shelter when conditions deteriorate
* pull over if it is raining heavily and you cannot see, park with your hazard lights on until the rain clears
* avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current
* create your own sandbags if there is flooding, by using pillow cases or shopping bags filled with sand and place them around doorways to protect your home
* stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways
* ensure pets and animals are safe
* be prepared in case of power outages, have an emergency kit with a radio, torch, spare batteries and first aid kit

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT ADELAIDE RIVER TOWN FROM EARLY SATURDAY MORNING
Moderate rainfall across the Adelaide River catchment over the last few days has resulted in significant river level rises along the Adelaide river and its tributaries. Further moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast for the next few days, which has the potential to cause minor flooding along the Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town from early Saturday morning.
A flood watch is current for parts of the Bonaparte, North West Coastal and Carpentaria Coastal River catchments and a severe weather warning is current for heavy rainfall in the Daly and parts of Arnhem and Carpentaria districts.
Upper Adelaide River:
Minor flooding is possible along the Adelaide River.
The Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town is currently at 6.93 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
With forecast rainfall the Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town may reach around the minor flood level (11.50 m) early Saturday morning. Further rises are possible.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

Major Flood Warning For The Daly River
Issued at 01:30 PM ACST on Friday 06 March 2026
Flood Warning Number: 2
MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT DALY RIVER POLICE STATION FROM LATE SUNDAY
Moderate rainfall has been observed across the Daly River catchment since Wednesday, with particularly heavy rainfall during Thursday and into Friday, resulting in river level rises upstream of Daly River Police Station. Moderate flooding is likely at Daly River Police Station from late Saturday, with major flooding possible from late Sunday.
Further rainfall is forecast during Friday, this situation will be closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
A major flood warning is current for the Katherine River, a flood watch is current for parts of the Bonaparte, North West Coastal and Carpentaria Coastal River catchments and a severe weather warning is current for heavy rainfall in the Daly and parts of Arnhem and Carpentaria districts.
Daly River above Douglas River:
River rises are occurring in the upper Daly River, and flooding will continue for at least the next few days.
Fergusson River:
River levels are rapidly rising along the Fergusson River and tributaries.
Lower Daly River:
Major flooding is possible along the Daly River.
The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is currently at 11.82 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is likely to exceed the minor flood level (12.60 m) Saturday morning. The river is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (13.10 m) from late Saturday. The river may reach around the major flood level (14.00 m) from late Sunday. Further rises are possible.
