Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Katherine River

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT THE NITMILUK CENTRE
Since 9:00 am Saturday rainfall totals of 30-80 mm have been recorded across the Katherine River catchment and minor flooding has developed along the Gorge Road.
Further rainfall is forecast for the area over the next few days which is likely to lead to renewed river level rises along the Gorge Road.
Katherine River Gorge Road:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Gorge Road.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at 3.07 metres and falling, with minor flooding.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is likely to remain around the minor flood level (3.00 m) during Sunday. Renewed river level rises above the minor flood level are likely from Sunday afternoon with forecast rain fall.
Katherine Town:
No flooding is expected at Katherine Town.
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is currently at 10.53 metres and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is likely to remain below the minor flood level (16.00 m) during Sunday.

Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Prepare for flooding and move away while safe to do so.
Don't drive into floodwaters.}
