Major Flood Warning For The Roper And Waterhouse Rivers

BESWICK BRIDGE LIKELY TO PEAK AROUND MAJOR OVERNIGHT MONDAY INTO TUESDAY
Recent moderate to heavy rainfall associated with Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle has caused river level rises and flooding across the Waterhouse River and Roper River catchments. Further showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days but widespread significant rainfall is not expected.
Moderate flood levels are continuing to rise at Beswick Bridge, with a peak around the major flood level (8.70 m) likely overnight Monday into Tuesday.
The situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch remains in place for parts of the Top End.

Waterhouse River:
Moderate flooding is rising along the Waterhouse River at Beswick Bridge.
The Waterhouse River at Beswick Bridge is currently at 8.58 m and rising, with moderate flooding.
The Waterhouse River at Beswick Bridge is likely to peak around the major flood level (8.70 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday.

Roper River below Elsey Creek:
River levels remain elevated throughout the Roper River catchment.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

MODERATE FLOOD PEAK EXPECTED AT NITMILUK CENTRE OVERNIGHT MONDAY
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT KATHERINE BRIDGE FROM TUESDAY MORNING
Moderate to heavy rainfall associated with Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle has been observed across the Katherine River catchment since Sunday morning. Further showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days.
Moderate flooding is expected along the Katherine River from Monday afternoon. The river may peak near 6.00 m overnight Monday into Tuesday, with moderate flooding. Downstream along the Katherine River at Katherine Bridge, minor flooding may develop from Tuesday morning.
This situation will be closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End.

Katherine River Gorge Road:
Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is expected along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at 5.44 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is expected to exceed the moderate flood level (5.50 m) Monday afternoon. The river may peak near 6.00 m Monday evening, with moderate flooding.

Katherine Town:
Minor flooding is possible along the Katherine River at Katherine Town.
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is currently at 14.17 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge may reach around the minor flood level (16.00 m) Tuesday morning.

Major Flood Warning For The Daly River

RENEWED RIVER RISES AND PROLONGED MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT DALY RIVER POLICE STATION
Moderate to heavy rainfall associated with Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle has been observed across the Daly River catchment since Sunday morning. Prolonged major flooding is continuing along the Daly River at Daly River Police Station, with river levels expected to remain above the major flood level for the remainder of March. While recent rainfall has caused renewed rises in river levels, they are expected to remain well below levels recorded earlier in March.
The situation will be closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End including the Daly River catchment. A Severe Weather Warning is also current for parts of the Northern Territory.

Daly River above Douglas River:
River levels are elevated along the Daly River above Douglas River.
Fergusson River:
River levels are elevated along the Fergusson River.
Lower Daly River:
Prolonged major flooding is continuing along the Daly River with renewed rises occurring.
The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is currently at 14.39 m and steady, with major flooding.
The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is expected to remain above the major flood level (14.00 m) for the remainder of March.
