Moderate Flood Warning For The Waterhouse River And Flood Warning For Roper River

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BESWICK BRIDGE
Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecasts for the next day or two in the Roper and Waterhouse Rivers.
Whilst river levels are falling across the Waterhouse River, renewed rises to the moderate flood level or prolonged flooding are possible with forecast rainfall. River levels remain elevated across the Roper River.
This situation will be closely monitored and warnings will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End.

Waterhouse River:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Waterhouse River.
The Waterhouse River at Beswick Bridge is currently at 7.96 m and falling, with minor flooding.
The Waterhouse River at Beswick Bridge is expected to remain above the minor flood level (7.70 m) through to Sunday evening. Renewed river level rises to the moderate flood level (8.10 m) are possible overnight Sunday into Monday with forecast rainfall.

Roper River below Elsey Creek:
River levels are elevated throughout the Roper River catchment.

Major Flood Warning For The Katherine River

KATHERINE BRIDGE LIKELY TO REMAIN ABOVE MAJOR DURING SUNDAY AND INTO MONDAY
NITMILUK CENTRE LIKELY TO REMAIN ABOVE MODERATE UNTIL SUNDAY EVENING
River levels along the Katherine River are continuing to fall. At Nitmiluk Centre, the river level is likely to remain above moderate flood level until Sunday evening. At Katherine Bridge, river levels are falling slowly, with prolonged recession expected given the magnitude of the peak, and are likely to remain above the major flood level during Sunday and into Monday
Further rainfall and localised heavy falls are possible for the next few days, which may cause renewed river level rises. The situation is being closely monitored and the warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Bonaparte, North West Coastal and Carpentaria Coastal River catchments.

Katherine River Gorge Road:
Major flooding is occurring at Katherine River Gorge Road.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre peaked at 9.64 m around 06:15 am Saturday 7 March, with major flooding. The river is currently at 6.07 m and falling, with moderate flooding.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (5.50 m) until Sunday evening. Small renewed rises are possible with forecast rain.

Katherine Town:
Major flooding is occurring at Katherine Town.
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge peaked at 19.20 m around 10:45 pm Saturday 7 March, with major flooding. The river is currently at 18.91 m and falling, with major flooding.
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is likely to remain above the major flood level (17.50 m) during Sunday and into Monday. Small renewed rises are possible with forecast rain.

Major Flood Warning For The Daly River

MAJOR FLOODING AT DALY RIVER POLICE STATION LIKELY TO EXCEED 15.30 M FROM WEDNESDAY EXCEEDING 1957 FLOOD LEVEL (15.19 M)
Major flooding is occurring along the Daly River at Daly River Police Station, where the river level is expected to exceed 14.80 Sunday evening and likely to exceed 15.30 metres, above the 1957 flood levels, during Wednesday.
Upstream the flood peak in the Daly River is around Dorisvale, where river levels have exceeded 2015 flood levels.
Further rainfall is possible over the next few day and the situation is being closely monitored, and the warning will be updated as required.
A Major Flood Warning is current for the Katherine River, and a Flood Watch is current.

Daly River above Douglas River:
River level rises are occurring in the upper Daly River, and flooding is expected to continue for at least the next few days.
Fergusson River:
River levels are elevated along the Fergusson River and tributaries.
Lower Daly River:
Major flooding is occurring along the Daly River.
The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is currently at 14.34 m and steady, with major flooding, just above the Feb 2026 flood level.
The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is expected to exceed 14.80 m Sunday evening, with major flooding. Major flooding at Daly River Police Station is likely to exceed 15.30 m during Wednesday, higher than the 1957 flood levels of 15.19 metres. Further rises are likely as upstream flows arrive.
