for Giant Hailstones, Destructive Winds And Intense Rainfall
for parts of Gympie, Logan, Scenic Rim, Gold Coast and South Burnett Council Areas.

VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS WITH GIANT HAIL AND POSSIBLE DESTRUCTIVE WINDS AND INTENSE RAINFALL HEADING TOWARDS THE GOLD COAST.
GIANT HAILSTONES, DESTRUCTIVE WINDS and INTENSE RAINFALL for the following areas:
Gympie, Logan, Scenic Rim, South Burnett and Gold Coast
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:30 pm, VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS likely to produce large, possibly giant hailstones, damaging, locally destructive winds and heavy, locally intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding were detected near Coomera and Goomeri. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect Southport, Hope Island and South Stradbroke Island by 9:00 pm and waters off from Gold Coast Seaway, waters off South Stradbroke Island and the area north of Kilkivan by 9:30 pm.
Other severe thunderstorms likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Boonah and Beaudesert. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Canungra, Tamborine and Jimboomba by 9:00 pm and Kooralbyn, Mount Tamborine and Logan Village by 9:30 pm.
5 CM HAIL REPORTED AT TAMBORINE AT 8:10 PM.
7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT YARRAMAN AT 5:40 PM.
8 CM HAIL REPORTED AT GOOGA CREEK AT 5:15PM
3 cm hail reported west of Jimbooba at 7:30 pm
Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
* Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines if it s safe to do so.
* Stay away from windows if there is giant hail.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Southeast Coast and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 9:40 pm.
