for Heavy Rainfall

for Wide Bay and Burnett and parts of Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North West, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts.

Heavy rainfall continuing in the north and developing in the southeast.

Weather Situation
Tropical Low 29U is situated in northern parts of the North West district. The monsoon trough extends inland from this low and is focusing heavy rainfall through the northern interior. The low will remain stationary tonight before gradually moving to the southeast on Sunday. Meanwhile rich tropical moisture feeding into a developing trough in southeast Queensland will see rainfall increasing into Sunday and continuing during Monday.

Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North West, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast
FOR THE NORTHERN INTERIOR: HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is possible over parts of the northern interior today, potentially easing this afternoon before increasing again tonight. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 25 and 50 mm are likely, with isolated totals around 100 mm possible. 24-hourly rainfall totals between 50 and 70 mm are likely, with isolated totals around 120 mm possible.
FOR THE SOUTH EAST: HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is expected over parts of the Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Southeast Coast, Wide Bay and Burnett and Central Highlands and Coalfields from late Saturday night. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 40 and 80 mm are likely, with isolated totals around 100 mm possible. Isolated falls around 170 mm are possible on the Sunshine Coast tonight. 24-hourly rainfall totals between 50 and 100 mm are likely, with isolated totals around 150 mm possible.
There is some uncertainty where the heaviest rainfall will occur, particularly through the southeast of the state. Further extensions towards the coast and north into the Capricornia district are possible for Sunday night into Monday.

Locations which may be affected include Toowoomba, Dalby, Maroochydore, Roma, Gympie and Kingaroy.
124.0 mm was recorded at Marodian (Munna Creek) in the 6 hours to 9:00 pm.
112.0 mm was recorded at Sexton (Mary River) in the 6 hours to 9:00 pm.
133.0 mm was recorded at Burke Development Road (Lower Walker Creek) in the 6 hours to 7:45 am

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 am AEST Sunday.

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT WOODFORD AND GREGOR CREEK SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast across the Upper Brisbane and Stanley catchments from overnight Saturday through to Monday. With forecast rainfall, moderate flooding may occur along the Stanley River at Woodford and along the Upper Brisbane River at Gregor Creek.
A Flood Watch is current for most of Queensland. A Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall is current for parts of the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North West, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts.

Stanley River to Somerset Dam:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Stanley River at Woodford.
The Stanley River at Woodford is currently at 2.25 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
With forecast rainfall, the Stanley River at Woodford may exceed the minor flood level (5.00 m) from early Sunday morning, and may reach around the moderate flood level (6.10 m) Sunday afternoon. Higher levels are possible.

Brisbane River to Wivenhoe Dam:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Upper Brisbane River at Gregor Creek.
The Brisbane River at Gregor Creek is currently at 0.92 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
With forecast rainfall, the Brisbane River at Gregor Creek may exceed the minor flood level (3.50 m) from early Sunday afternoon, and may exceed the moderate flood level (4.50 m) Sunday afternoon. Higher levels are possible.

Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
