ROCKHAMPTON LIKELY TO PEAK NEAR THE MODERATE FLOOD LEVEL (7.50 METRES) FROM THURSDAY MORNING
MODERATE FLOODING EASING AT YAAMBA AND YATTON
Several flood peaks are currently moving through the Fitzroy River catchment. The main flood peak is moving through the lower Fitzroy River between South Yaamba and Laurel Bank on Wednesday afternoon. A second peak is moving along the Mackenzie River but is not expected to cause any significant increase in water levels along the lower Mackenzie River. Along the lower Isaac River, moderate flood levels are easing after small renewed river level rises earlier in the week.
Moderate flooding is easing along the Fitzroy River at Yaamba following a moderate flood peak estimated to have occurred early Wednesday morning. Downstream, minor flooding at Rockhampton is expected to continue rising overnight Wednesday into Thursday as the flood peak slowly approaches. The river level at Rockhampton is likely to peak near the moderate flood level (7.50 m) from Thursday morning.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days, which may cause small renewed river level rises in parts of the catchment, but are not expected to significantly impact river levels along the Fitzroy River.

Small renewed river level rises are possible later Wednesday into Thursday as upstream flows arrive but the Mackenzie River at Tartrus is expected to remain below the minor flood level (11.00 m).
Fitzroy River:
Minor to moderate flooding is occurring along the Fitzroy River. A peak near the moderate flood level is likely at Rockhampton.
The Fitzroy River at Yaamba is estimated to have peaked just above 14.00 m early Wednesday morning, with moderate flooding. As at 1:48 pm Wednesday, the river was at 13.95 m and falling, with moderate flooding.
