Weather Situation
Moisture and instability persist to the east of a surface trough through eastern Queensland, resulting in a broad risk of severe thunderstorms.
DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Biloela, Gayndah, Mount Morgan, Monto, Baralaba and Calliope.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays and Central Highlands and Coalfields districts. Locations which may be affected include Proserpine and Collinsville.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Southeast Coast district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.
3 cm hail reported south of Ipswich around 7:10 pm.
59 mm of rainfall recorded at Yammanie Minnamoolka in the 1 hour to 4:16 pm.
3 cm hail reported in inner northern Brisbane suburbs around 3:20 pm.
52 mm of rainfall recorded at Mareeba in the 30 minutes to 2:24 pm.
57 mm of rainfall recorded at Fish Hole Creek in the 30 minutes to 12:45 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

Minor Flood Warning For The Fitzroy River Catchment

RENEWED RISES AND MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BARALABA FROM FRIDAY MORNING
Recent storms have caused renewed river level rises between Theodore and Moura. Minor flooding may develop along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Friday morning. Showers and storms are forecast over the next few days, which may result in further river level rises.

Dawson River downstream of Theodore:
Minor flooding is possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba.
No observations are currently available for the Dawson River at Baralaba, however based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level (4.00 m) and rising slowly.
Renewed river level rises and minor flooding (4.00 m) are possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Friday morning as upstream peaks arrive.

Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
