for Damaging Winds And Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Ipswich, Somerset, Lockyer Valley and Scenic Rim Council Areas.

DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Ipswich, Somerset, Scenic Rim and Lockyer Valley
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 9:40 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Gatton and Grantham. This thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast. It is forecast to affect Laidley by 9:55 pm and the area south of Esk, Grandchester and Rosewood by 10:10 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 10:20 pm.
