Weather Situation
A broad moist and unstable airmass is triggering thunderstorms through parts of southeast and central Queensland this afternoon, likely to continue into the evening.
DAMAGING, LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS, LARGE, POSSIBLY GIANT HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt
VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce damaging, locally destructive winds, large, possibly giant hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts. Locations which may be affected include Tara, Chinchilla and Miles.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Dalby, Taroom, Rolleston, Springsure, Tara, Injune, Texas, Chinchilla and Miles.

Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
* Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines if it s safe to do so.
* Stay away from windows if there is giant hail.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

Minor Flood Warning For The Dawson River Catchment
Issued at 11:25 AM AEST on Saturday 22 November 2025

MINOR FLOODING EXPECTED TO BE OCCURRING AT MOURA AND BARALABA
Recent rainfall across the Dawson River catchment has resulted in river rises along the Dawson River and its tributaries.
River levels are easing at Taroom during Saturday, as a flood peak moves through the Middle Dawson River where minor flooding is expected to be occurring at Moura and Baralaba during Saturday.

Dawson River to Theodore:
River levels are easing along the Dawson River to Theodore.
The Dawson River at Taroom peaked at 4.39 m around 06:00 am Saturday 22 November, below the minor flood level. The river is currently at 4.33 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Dawson River at Taroom is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.50 m) and continue easing.

Dawson River downstream of Theodore:
Minor flooding is expected to be occurring along the Dawson River downstream of Theodore.
No observations are currently available for the Dawson River at Moura. The river level is expected to be around 6.20 m Saturday morning and steady, above the minor flood level (6.00 m).
The Dawson River at Moura is likely to remain above the minor flood level (6.00 m) during Saturday, easing Sunday.

No observations are currently available for the Dawson River at Baralaba. The river level is expected to be around 5.00 m and rising Saturday morning, above the minor flood level (4.00 m).
The Dawson River at Baralaba may reach around 5.50 m Sunday morning, with minor flooding.
