A trough tracking across northeastern NSW and an unstable airmass are resulting in severe thunderstorms in southeast Queensland.
DAMAGING, LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS for the following areas:
Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast
VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce damaging, locally destructive winds over the next several hours in parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Toowoomba, Pittsworth, Clifton and Allora.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Southeast Coast and Maranoa and Warrego districts. Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Toowoomba, Dalby, Ipswich, Gatton and Jimboomba.
107 km/h wind gust recorded at Goondiwindi Airport at 6:26 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
* Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines if it s safe to do so.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

Minor Flood Warning For The Dawson River

RENEWED RISES AND MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BARALABA FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON
A flood peak is moving down the Dawson River and is nearing Moura. Recent storms have also caused renewed rises in the Theodore area. Further showers and storms are forecast over the next few days, which in combination with existing flows may result in renewed river level rises and minor flooding along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Thursday afternoon.

Dawson River downstream of Theodore:
Minor flooding is possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba.
No observations are currently available for the Dawson River at Baralaba, however based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level (4.00 m) and falling slowly.
Renewed river level rises and minor flooding (4.00 m) are possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Thursday afternoon as upstream peaks arrive and in combination with forecast rainfall.

Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
