Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Heavy Rainfall, Large Hailstones And Damaging Winds
for Sunshine Coast and parts of Gympie, Somerset, Noosa and Moreton Bay Council Areas.

Severe thunderstorms continuing north and northwest of Brisbane.
HEAVY RAINFALL, LARGE HAILSTONES and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Gympie, Somerset, Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:50 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging winds were detected near Kilcoy, the area west of Kilcoy and the area southwest of Caloundra. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect Caloundra, waters off Caloundra and Mount Beerwah by 8:20 pm and Maroochydore, waters off Maroochydore and the area south of Noosa Heads by 8:50 pm.
48 mm of rainfall recorded at Mitchelton in the 30 minutes to 6:20 pm.
41 mm of rainfall recorded at Wallumbilla in the 30 minutes to 6:17 pm.
3-4 cm hail recorded at Clontarf at 6:15pm.
Cancellation for the following areas:

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 8:55 pm.
