Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Large Hailstones And Damaging Winds

for parts of Somerset, Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay Council Areas.

Issued at 1:40 pm Thursday, 30 October 2025.

LARGE HAILSTONES and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Somerset, Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 1:35 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce large hailstones and damaging winds was detected near Woodford. This thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast. It is forecast to affect Mount Beerwah, Peachester and Crohamhurst by 2:05 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett, Southeast Coast and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.

The next warning is due to be issued by 2:40 pm.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and emergency services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

Isolated severe thunderstorms are developing over southeast Queensland.

Weather Situation
Moderate instability is developing over parts of southeast Queensland this afternoon near a surface trough, and this will combine with strong winds in the upper atmosphere to provide a favourable environment for the development of isolated severe thunderstorms the next few hours.
DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas:
Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Kilcoy, Yarraman, Woodford and Imbil.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
