Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Heavy Rainfall

for parts of Western Downs and South Burnett Council Areas.

Issued at 2:32 pm Monday, 15 December 2025.

HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Western Downs and South Burnett
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:25 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Boondooma. This thunderstorm is slow moving. It is forecast to affect the area northwest of Lake Boondooma by 3:25 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.

The next warning is due to be issued by 3:35 pm.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and emergency services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
