Moisture and instability persist to the east of a surface trough through eastern Queensland, resulting in a broad risk of severe thunderstorms. About the southeast this trough is forecast to push offshore during the early evening.

Peninsula, Gulf Country, North Tropical Coast and Tablelands, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in the Wide Bay and Burnett and parts of the Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Brisbane, Maroochydore, Gympie, Biloela, Woorabinda and Gayndah.

* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

RENEWED RISES AND MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BARALABA FROM FRIDAY MORNING
Recent storms have caused renewed river level rises between Theodore and Moura. Minor flooding may develop along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Friday morning. Showers and storms are forecast over the next few days, which may result in further river level rises.

Dawson River downstream of Theodore:
Minor flooding is possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba.
No observations are currently available for the Dawson River at Baralaba, however based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level (4.00 m) and rising slowly.
Renewed river level rises and minor flooding (4.00 m) are possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Friday morning as upstream peaks arrive.

Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
