A southerly change is combining with humid and unstable airmass to cause severe thunderstorms this evening.

DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas:
Capricornia
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Yeppoon and Byfield.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Wide Bay and Burnett district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.
120km/h wind gust was recorded at Gladstone Radar at 10:00pm AEST
117km/h wind gust was recorded at Rundle Island at 10:29pm AEST
Cancellation for the following areas:

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

The next warning is due to be issued by 2:30 am.

Minor Flood Warning For The Dawson River

RENEWED RISES AND MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BARALABA LATER THIS WEEK
A flood peak is moving down the Upper Dawson River and is nearing Gyranda Weir. This peak, in combination with forecast rainfall and storms from late Wednesday, may result in renewed river level rises and minor flooding along the Dawson River at Baralaba.

Dawson River downstream of Theodore:
Minor flooding is possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba later this week.
No observations are currently available for the Dawson River at Moura, however based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level (6.00 m) and falling.
The Dawson River at Moura is likely to remain below the minor flood level (6.00 m).

Renewed river level rises and minor flooding (4.00 m) are possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba from later this week as upstream peaks arrive and in combination with forecast rainfall.
