Major Flood Warning For The Connors-Isaac And Mackenzie Rivers, Moderate Flood Warning For The Fitzroy River And Flood Warning For The Nogoa River Catchment
Issued at 10:52 AM AEST on Wednesday 14 January 2026
Flood Warning Number: 11
MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT YATTON AND EXPECTED AT TARTRUS FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT YAAMBA FROM SATURDAY EVENING AND AT ROCKHAMPTON FROM MONDAY
Moderate to heavy rainfall across the Fitzroy River Catchment from early Sunday has resulted in rapid river and creek level rises throughout the Connors, Isaac, and Mackenzie River catchments, as well as the Theresa Creek catchment.
A major flood peak was observed at Yatton along the Isaac River early Wednesday morning. Major flooding is likely to develop along the Mackenzie River at Tartrus from Wednesday afternoon.
Along the Fitzroy River, minor flooding is expected to be easing at Yaamba in response to local rainfall and small river level rises are occurring at Rockhampton. Further river level rises are expected later in the week as flows arrive from the Mackenzie River. Minor flooding is possible at Yaamba from Friday and at Rockhampton from Sunday afternoon. Moderate flooding is possible at Yaamba from Saturday evening and at Rockhampton from next Monday. Forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast across most of the catchment for the next few days, which may cause river level rises in southern and western parts of the catchment, but are not expected to significantly impact river levels in the Fitzroy River at this stage.
A Flood Watch is current for the Comet, Nogoa, Dawson, and Don River catchments.
